Tuesday's Premier Division action review

Buxton were looking to move into second place in the EVO-STIK Northern Premier League's Premier Division on Tuesday night when they entertained a Witton Albion side who started the evening in the bottom four, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.

However, despite Albion's 5-2 hammering of Ashton United last Saturday, few could have predicted their 3-0 win. Alex Titchiner gave the visitors a 24th minute lead that Danny Andrews doubled from the penalty spot eight minutes before half-time. And then Titchiner scored his second and Albion's third with 11 minutes to go.

Stourbridge could not repeat Saturday's victory against FC United of Manchester as a hard-working Barwell side ran out deserved winners at Amblecote to move into the play-off places.

Anthony Carney gave the Leicestershire side a 21st minute lead and then Nigel Julian made sure of the points with a second just past the hour-mark.

Tuesday`s other game saw Rushall Olympic push hosts Matlock Town back towards danger after a 2-1 Causeway Lane win.

Oscar Radford put Matlock into a 28th minute lead but an own goal from home captain Danny Holland levelled things five minutes before half-time. Stan Mugisha ensured it was the visitors who took all three points as he came off the bench in the second half to win the match with a 74th minute effort.
