Tuesday's Premier Division action review

By David Watters

Bottom held top on Tuesday night as Ramsbottom United held table-toppers Blyth Spartans to a goalless draw at the Harry Williams Riverside Stadium in the EVO-STIK Northern Premier League's Premier Division, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.

The wet weather caused the postponement of the match between Frickley Athletic and Stamford AFC and second-placed Nantwich Town weren`t able to take advantage of the efforts of the still winless Rams after they were also held to a draw, 1-1 at The Gore against mid-table Halesowen Town.

But it could have been worse for the Dabbers as they trailed to Isaac Cooper`s goal three minutes after half-time right until injury-time at the end of the game when in-demand Matty Kosylo popped up with the equaliser.

Buxton moved level on points with Nantwich after winning comfortably 3-0 at The Meres against second-bottom Grantham Town.

Liam Hardy put the Bucks in front after 27 minutes and 11 minutes into the second period Joel Bembo-Leta doubled the visitors` lead. Alex Wiles made it game over with number three with 11 minutes remaining.

Stourbridge moved into fourth spot after a 2-0 win at Llanellian Road against Colwyn Bay.

The deadlock was broken after 66 minutes when Karl Hawley gave the Glassboys the lead from the penalty spot after he had been fouled by Rob Hopley.

Justin Richards sealed the points two minutes from time, capitalising on a poor headed clearance from Ben Billingham's cross to drill the ball into the net.

Sutton Coldfield Town are seventh and Workington AFC eighth after both won at home on Tuesday.

The Royals beat Mickleover Sports 2-0 at Coles Lane with goals from Luke Rodgers right on the half-time whistle and then Aaron Forde eight minutes into the second half.

The Reds ensured Whitby Town remained in the bottom four after a 3-1 Borough Park victory.

Matty Tymon gave the hosts a 10th minute lead that Lee Bullock cancelled out eight minutes later. Joe McGee eventually restored the home side`s advantage in the 66th minute, with Gareth Arnison making sure with a third three minutes from the end.

Craig Nelthorpe scored the only goal of the game in the 57th minute to push Matlock Town up to ninth spot after beating Rushall Olympic at Causeway Lane.
