Blyth Spartans extended their lead at the top of the table after they eased to a comfortable 4-1 win at Stormy Corner against bottom-markers Skelmersdale United, while second-placed Buxton were beaten at home by Stafford Rangers.
Daniel Maguire gave Spartans the boost of an early fifth minute lead at Skem. He doubled the visitors` advantage a minute before half-time, and nine minutes into the second half, Ryan Hutchinson made it virtually game over with Blyth`s third. Dylan Smith pulled one back for Skem midway through the half, but new signing Adam Wrightson added a fourth for the leaders in stoppage time.
In front of a crowd of 312 at Silverlands, Josh Gordon gave Rangers the lead seven minutes before half-time. Returning striker Liam Hardy pulled Buxton back on level terms on the whistle ahead of the interval but just past the hour-mark, Izak Reid restored Stafford`s lead and then Kyle Perry ensured a fourth successive win with a third in the 81st minute.
Stourbridge made it eleven league games unbeaten to move level on points with fifth-placed Spennymoor United after a 4-0 win at Mickleover Sports for whom, in contrast, this was a fourth successive defeat.
Luke Benbow netted the first on 14 minutes, and Jordan Archer doubled the lead with 26 minutes played. Any thoughts of a comeback from Sports after the interval were quickly squashed as Archer curled in number three just three minutes after the restart, with Benbow then adding a fourth just three minutes later direct from a free-kick
Nantwich Town recovered from last weekend`s defeat to leaders Blyth to move to within three points of a top five spot following a 1-0 Weaver Stadium win over fourth-bottom Sutton Coldfield Town, Ben Harrison`s 31st minute goal for the Dabbers eventually proving enough.
