Steve McClaren's Championship giants were reported to be keeping an eye on the versatile attacker by HITC Sport and elsewhere in the media on Wednesday with scouts flocking to Marston Road to cast an eye over the skilful forward.
The 22-year-old, who can play as a winger or as a striker, has scored nine goals and laid on several assists in 18 appearances since joining Stafford Rangers from Nantwich Town in October and scoring on his debut against Grantham Town.
Gordon, pictured, kicked off his career at Stoke City before spells with Alloa Athletic and Peterborough Town. Moves to Newcastle Town and Rhyl followed before his switch to the EVO-STIK NPL's Premier Division to join the Dabbers.
Although Rangers are unlikely to stand in the player's way if he is offered a dream move to the Football League in the January transfer window, manager Neil Kitching may not be so keen to see his frontman leave for Pride Park as his side have suffered just one defeat in their last 13 outings since his arrival.
