Worksop Town moved into third place in the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League's Premier Division table on Tuesday night after a 3-1 win at The Walks against King's Lynn Town, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.

The majority in the crowd of 389 came to see if Lynn could move into the top five against in-form Tigers. But they not only came up against a team in form, but a player in hot touch in striker Leon Mettam.

The Premier Division’s top scorer notched his 27th and 28th goals of the season in the seventh and 55th minutes, sandwiched by a 20th minute Adam Quinn effort, to give the visitors a 3-0 lead. Rob Duffy pulled a goal back for the hosts in the 71st minute but they were unable to penetrate further.

Tuesday's only other Premier Division game saw Marine also in with a chance of moving into the play-off spots if they could beat struggling Trafford at the Arriva Stadium.

However, two goals in the opening 10 minutes eventually earned Trafford a surprise three-point haul to take them out of the bottom four. Tom Schofield gave the visitors the boost of an early third minute lead that Brett Mbalanda doubled seven minutes later. Karl Noon did manage to reduce the deficit five minutes after half-time, but Trafford held on for three big points.
