FC United of Manchester's play-off hopes took a blow when they were held to a 1-1 draw by neighbours Trafford at Gigg Lane on Tuesday, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.
In front of a good midweek crowd of 1,598, Callum Byrne got the home side off to a great start when he put them in front inside five minutes from 20 yards.
But Steve Mason headed Trafford's equaliser after 22 minutes and, although the home side had the majority of play, they were unable to find a winner and collect three vital points instead of the one.
The result leaves Karl Marginson's side three points off fifth-place, although they have games in hand on most of the clubs around them.
