Tweeting Robins aim to fly even higher!

Evo-Stik Northern Premier League Ashton United have set a new ‘followers’ target on Twitter after passing the 3,000 mark.

The Premier Division’s Robins passed the milestone last week with their account @AshtonUnitedFC and are now aiming to reach 5,000 followers. Club officials hope the massive interest the club is generating on social media will be reflected in higher gates at Hurst Cross.

Apart from helping the club to quickly share news and information with fans, Ashton United’s Communications Director Steve Hobson reckons having so many followers is also benefitting their sponsors who are able to take advantage and make offers to potential customers at short notice.

After their Twitter account reached the new high, a delighted Hobson said: "This is fantastic news for the club and is testament to the hard work of our social media manager Ken Philburn.

"I set Ken a target of 1000 followers about a year ago thinking that would be a great achievement but he continues to astound us with the figures rising steadily week by week. I have now set him a target of 5000 by the end of the year which, knowing Ken, he will attack with gusto!"
