Two new faces for Matlock Town

Matlock Town have strengthened their midfield department with the double signing of Dan Bradley and Connor Dimaio.

An attacking midfielder by nature, Bradley has spent virtually his whole career in the National League and National League North, making 376 appearances and scoring 68 goals.

He previously spent five years with Alfreton Town, playing 165 times.

Bradley has more recently been with Nuneaton Borough and Tamworth before joining Ilkeston Town at the start of the current season, where recently-appointed Gladiators boss Martin Carruthers was in charge.

“I’m delighted to get Dan Bradley over the line,” Carruthers said.

“He’s someone I’ve been after for numerous weeks, and to get someone of his experience and calibre is just what we need at this moment in time.

“Dan’s a massive signing, a statement of intent that we’re ambitious and we want quality players in for that push for the play-offs, so he’s a very welcome addition.”

Also arriving at the Proctor Cars Stadium is Republic of Ireland U21s representative Dimaio.

The Chesterfield-born midfielder was part of the Sheffield United Academy, graduating to make three first team appearances for the Blades in the 2013/14 season before also being named as their Young Player of the Year.

Earlier in 2013, he was called up by the Republic of Ireland to represent them at U19s level having previously featured for their U16s and U17s under 16 and under 17 sides.

In March 2016, he received a call up for the U21s, making his debut in a European qualifier against Slovenia.

During recent years, Dimaio has featured for his hometown club, as well as Stockport County, Curzon Ashton and Ashton United on loan.

The 27-year-old joined Boston United in August 2020, before after a second loan spell at Curzon Ashton he made a permanent move to the Nash in July 2022.

“I’m absolutely delighted to secure the signing of Connor, a fantastic young midfield player who certainly can play at a higher level,” Carruthers said.

“We got him from the National League North, and it’s great that he’s chosen Matlock.”
