EVO-STIK Northern Premier League Trafford have parted company with manager Garry Vaughan and his assistant Wayne Goodison.

Officials at Shawe View announced on Sunday night that the pair, pictured, had resigned 24 hours earlier on Saturday following a run of three consecutive defeats that had left the club second bottom and nine points adrift of top flight safety.

After their Premier Division clash at Ramsbottom United was postponed on Saturday, Trafford next play on Saturday when they host Blyth Spartans and officials expect to make a further announcement in the next few days on who'll be at the helm.

Vaughan took the reins for the start of the 2009-10 campaign, originally with Loz Greenhalgh as his assistant before Goodison's arrival the following season.

A club legend as a ball-playing midfielder in the 1990s when he made more than 300 appearances for Trafford, Vaughan is still Trafford's overall leading club scorer with 89 goals.

Together with his new number two, he built a side that went on to beat Cammell Laird 4-2 in a memorable play-off final in May 2013 to secure promotion to the Premier Division at the end of his fourth season at the helm.

However, after achieving a creditable 10th placed finished in their first season at the higher level and winning the Manchester Premier Cup with victory over Hyde at Gigg Lane, results went downhill this term with just four wins from 27 league fixtures.

In the statement announcing the double departure, the Premier Division club thanked both for their work.

The club said: "This season the results in both league and cup competitions have been very, very disappointing and so, by mutual consent, the club reluctantly accepted Garry and Wayne’s resignation. We thank them wholeheartedly for their efforts at Trafford Football Club."
