Veteran defender moves into management

Barwell

Guy Hadland has stepped up to become assistant manager at EVO-STIK League Barwell.

The 35-year-old defender, pictured, was appointed on Thursday as number two to manager Jimmy Ginnelly and will work alongside fellow assistant boss Lee Harriman. Hadland succeeds Steve Hinks who left Kirkby Road two weeks ago to work with Richard Sneekes following his appointment at Premier Division rivals Rushall Olympic.

The former Nuneaton Town, Brackley Town, Evesham United, Solihull Borough, Bedworth United and Hinckley United player first joined the Leicestershire club from Nuneaton Borough in 2012 as a player and coach. Ginnelly believes his wealth of experience will be a positive force in the dressing room and on the training field.

He said: "Guy has so much to offer football and I’m delighted he’s agreed to come on board. He’s going to be a very tough disciplinarian and great around the changing rooms and clubhouse.

"His knowledge and football ability and experience of the clubs he’s been at over the last twenty years will give us superb contacts with other clubs and managers and this will be fantastic for Barwell."
