Walsall Wood defender joins Chasetown

Chasetown have announced the signing of versatile wide man Carter Lycett from Pitching In NPL Midlands Division side Walsall Wood.

The 21-year-old is an ex-England schoolboy and Hednesford Town player who broke into, and established himself in, their side at Step 3 level.

Carter is versatile and can play at left-back or as a wide man on either flank.

He has featured 34 times in all competitions for Walsall Wood this season - more than any other player in their squad.

He will now link up with a Chasetown side occupying a comfortable mid-table position in the NPL West Division.

On his arrival, Scholars boss Mark Swann said: “Carter is an excellent signing for the football club, and somebody we have admired for a long time.

"Sometimes in football it is about timing, and it seems that the timing was right to make our move once we knew he might be available.

"He is still young but has played a lot of games at a good level, and will no doubt be an asset for us.

"He is energetic and has a fantastic left foot, and his character will mean he fits into our dressing room straight away. We are chuffed to have him on board."
