Wednesday's FA Trophy action review

Wednesday night's FA Trophy Second Qualifying Round replay between the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League's Leek Town and Matlock Town was switched to Belper Town's Christchurch Meadow with Matlock triumphing 3-1, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.

However, Mark Atkins' Evo-Stik NPL Premier Division Gladiators had to come back from being a 13th minute Peter Wright goal down to progress. Crucially, Lewis McMahon equalised from the penalty spot a minute before half-time.

Massiah McDonald, who has proved to be a decent signing by Atkins, put the visitors in front for the first time in the tie after 74 minutes. And with seven minutes remaining, McMahon notched his second of the game – this time from open play – to take Matlock through.

The Gladiators now host Conference North side Stalybridge Celtic at Causeway Lane on Saturday 10 November after Monday's FA Trophy Third Qualifying Round draw was made at Wembley.

Ties takes place over the weekend of Saturday 10 November with the winning clubs from the 40 fixtures picking up £4000 in prize money from the Football Association.
