Evo-Stik NPL First Division South play-offs

The Evo-Stik Northern Premier League First Division South play-off final on Saturday will be an all-Derbyshire affair between Belper Town and Mickleover Sports after the Nailers beat Leek Town on Wednesday night, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.

The kick-off had to be delayed by 10 minutes due to crowd congestion as 814 turned up at Harrison Park to see the sides who finished second fifth do battle.

It was the Nailers who had the first real opportunity after 22 minutes when Leek `keeper Ben Chapman tipped Simon Harrison's looping header over the bar. At the other end, Matt Bell's free-kick was clawed away for a corner by Belper keeper Scott Low five minutes later.

The second half was as even as the first. The home side almost broke the deadlock after 68 minutes when Dan Shelley`s cross was cleared away from Jordan Johnson just as he was about to strike. Belper`s Colin Marrison then headed over from a free-kick with just over a quarter of an hour to go.

Aaron Cole finally broke the deadlock, scored from a direct free-kick to grab the crucial first goal for the visitors. And then, four minutes from time, Belper`s top scorer Jon Frogratt broke clear to make it 2-0 and game over.
