Wednesday's Premier Division action review

Evo-Stik NPL Premier Division

Apart from pride and final placings, little was at stake in Wednesday`s two matches in the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League's Premier Division, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.

Whitby Town secured a comfortable 4-0 win at the Turnbull Ground against fellow mid-table outfit King`s Lynn Town – the second consecutive game the Seasiders have netted four times at home.

Shane Henry gave the hosts a 19th minute lead, but it wasn`t until the second half that Whitby really clicked into gear. Lee Mason added number two just shy of the hour-mark and then Steve Snaith made it 3-0 with 17 minutes remaining. Debutant Zak Boagey came off the bench to net the fourth with a couple of minutes to go.

The other game between neighbours Buxton and Matlock Town ended honours` even at 1-1.

Considering little was at stake, an excellent crowd of 531 had to wait until the final six minutes to see the goals. Mark Reed came off the bench to open the scoring in the 84th minute for the Bucks but Martin Foster levelled for the Gladiators from the spot as injury-time approached.
