Wednesday's Premier Division action review

Whitby Town slipped above visiting Ramsbottom United into thirteenth place in the EVO-STIK League Premier Division on Wednesday night after a 2-0 success at the Turnbull Ground, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.

The first home success of the new campaign for the Seasiders made it back-to-back wins for Darren Williams' side after they beat another of the promoted teams, Belper Town, last Saturday.

A crowd of 265 saw Whitby get off to a great start when they took the lead just six minutes in when Dave McTiernan`s 25-yard effort beat Rammy keeper Grant Shenton with the aid of a deflection. The second and decisive goal came three minutes into the second half when defender Richard Pell headed past Shenton.
