Wednesday's Premier Division action review

By David Watters

Struggling Corby Town’s mini-revival in the EVO-STIK Northern Premier League's Premier Division came to an end at Steel Park on Wednesday night after they suffered a 2-1 defeat to ten-man Coalville Town, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.

After two wins and two draws from their previous four matches, the Steelmen were beaten by two first half goals from the Ravens who possessed several former Steelmen in their side.

The visitors grabbed an early ninth minute lead when Rory Coleman curled a low effort past Aidan Grant. And then three minutes before half-time, Corby conceded a second when Jason Lee brought down Lukasz Rojewski in the box and Coleman duly converted the resulting penalty.

The second half was fairly even when, midway through the period, former Steelman Anton Brown was sent-off for a second bookable offence after bringing down Miles Smith. This gave the home side momentum and they gave it a real go after pulling one back with nine minutes to go when Ben Milnes converted a corner at the far post.

But the visitors held firm to claim three points that moves them nearer the top five than the bottom four, while Corby remain seven points adrift of the safety-mark.
