Hunt starts for new shirt sponsors

By David Watters

EVO-STIK Northern Premier League Grantham Town are confident of having a new logo on the front of their shirts within weeks after parting company with their main sponsors.

The Gingerbreads announced on Wednesday that the hunt was on to secure a new first team sponsor for the remainder of the season and into the next campaign after their current partnership with Simon Hopkins Electrical Ltd was terminated by mutual consent.

The sponsors helped in the renovation of facilities for fans at the Meres last year and the EVO-STIK NPL Premier Division club's chairman Roger Booth hopes the local business and its owner will continue to stay involved.

Booth told supporters: “Simon [Hopkins] and I had a long chat and I have thanked him warmly for what he and his company have done for us over the past year but it suits us both to go our separate ways at this point. We hope to see Simon at some future games.”

Town’s commercial director Sophie Cope believes the success the club is currently enjoying on the pitch will help her to swiftly secure a new sponsor.

She said: “I’m confident we will have a new logo on those shirts very soon. Sponsorship is a vital element of the income we need to keep that team on the pitch. Hopefully, the good run we are having will make my job a bit easier!

"I have agreed with Simon that his advertising boards will remain for the rest of the season, and his logo on the tracksuits. However, the first team shirts will change as soon as a new sponsor is in place.”
