Ashton United made it eight straight wins in the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League Premier Division on a stormy Wednesday night, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.
In horrendous conditions at Hurst Cross, Ashton beat Buxton 2-0 to move fourth in the table, albeit ten points behind leaders Skelmersdale United.
The hosts took the lead through Matty Chadwick as early as the fourth minute. Despite creating chances, Buxton couldn’t find a reply and found themselves two down at the break with Jason Gorton netting in the 38th minute.
The game petered out after the break in the deteriorating conditions as Ashton maintained their superb run, condemning the Bucks to only their second defeat on the road this season.
