The Daniels travelled up to the Bradley Development Centre with only one win to date but gave a good account of themselves against a confident Clee outfit.
The breakthrough came just shy of the hour-mark when Liam Davis powered home a header from a good cross. And that proved enough for Cleethorpes to record a seventh successive win at the higher level.
In contrast, Corby Town, relegated from the Premier Division last season, have found the going tough a league lower and were held to a 2-2 draw by another of the division`s new boys, Peterborough Sports.
A crowd of 326 saw Sports twice battle back from behind to secure a late draw. The Steelmen led through a 12th minute Phil Trainer goal before the United Counties League champions equalised in the 27th minute through David Femiola.
But six minutes before the break, Corby were back in front when the visiting `keeper Aaron Butcher came out to punch the ball but flattened Sam Mulready in the process before the referee awarded a penalty which the victim got up and duly converted. It looked as though that was going to be enough – until the 88th minute when Josh Sanders popped up with Sports` equalise.
