‘We'll finish what we started' - Colls ready for survival fight

Atherton Collieries manager Brad Cooke believes his side have got the fight to stay out of relegation trouble, come the end of the season.

The Colls are currently 16th in the Northern Premier League table, four points outside the relegation places with seven games to go.

They have played a game more than Morpeth Town and Marske United around them, and two more than Liversedge.

Cooke’s side could take another step towards securing their Step 3 status on Saturday as they travel to bottom club Belper Town.

"The lads will fight to the death”, he said. "We’ve been beaten this year and come back.

"It doesn’t matter what side I put out, they’ll put an Atherton Collieries badge on and fight for me, my staff and for each other.

“We’ve got a job to do and we're going to finish what we've started."
