West Preview: Second time Luckie for Chasetown

By James Gordon

After a fine win away at Widnes last weekend, Chasetown will be wanting to repeat the feat at Kendal Town on Saturday in the EVO-STIK League West Division.

They have a familiar face back in contention after they announced the return of forward Jazz Luckie from Stratford Town for his second spell at the club.

Boss Scott Dundas told the club’s official website: "Jazz is another good addition to our squad he can play across the midfield and up front and on Saturday once he was introduced he showed us what we can hopefully expect in the future.

"He was very composed and kept the ball well. He had a big hand in the second goal and talked well. We are very pleased to have him on board."

Another club buoyed by last Saturday’s events are Newcastle Town, who came from three goals down late on to earn a valuable point in a 3-3 draw against Trafford.

They travel to second place Runcorn Linnets, who continue to impress since joining the EVO-STIK League, and are unbeaten at home in the league so far this season.

One of the teams in the chasing pack behind Linnets are Colne, who host Colwyn Bay on Saturday.

Colne have lost four of their last six matches at home, though did beat Colwyn Bay 4-0 in the same fixture last season.

Colwyn Bay manager Craig Hogg said: "The game may come a little too early for one or two, but  everybody in the squad knows what is expected of them when they put on that shirt

“They were full of energy and much quality when we played there last season and I'm fully expecting the same again from them this weekend.

"Steve Cunningham (Colne's manager) continues to do a tremendous job and I'm expecting a very intriguing tactical battle."

Table-toppers Atherton Collieries host Widnes, while Trafford will be hoping to put their slip up last weekend behind them as they travel to Glossop North End.

One of six teams separated by just two points from third downwards are Prescot Cables, who have drawn just once all season. They’ve won six of their last 10 games, but in the four losses, they have conceded 15 goals, including a 4-0 defeat to Ramsbottom United a fortnight ago.

Standing in their way on Saturday is a Clitheroe side, who had won three straight games before losing to Runcorn Linnets last time out.

Also in that chasing pack are Radcliffe, who travel to Kidsgrove Athletic, and Mossley who host Leek Town.

Bottom of the league Skelmersdale United travel to Market Drayton Town.

Droylsden’s game with Ramsbottom United is off due to the latter’s involvement in the FA Trophy, which leaves the Bloods without a game.
