Whites close in on new boss

Lincoln United will move a step closer to finding their new manager on Friday when the application date for the Ashby Avenue job closes.

The Evo-Stik Northern Premier League's Whites say they've been inundated with candidates looking to replace Terry Fleming who left last week by 'mutual consent'.

Director of Football Allen Crombie has been leading the hunt to replace Fleming while assistant manager Darren Dye holds the fort as caretaker manager at the Evo-Stik NPL First Division South outfit.

Secretary John Wilkinson said: "We have had plenty of applications from many high quality candidates. Once the deadline passes the Chairman [Malcolm Cowling] will start the job of narrowing down the applications before we draw up a short list for interviews.

"We are very happy with the applications we've had so far and hope to make an appointment in the coming weeks so our new manager is in place as soon as possible."
