Williams waits on head count

Whitby Town's player manager Darren Williams reckons the Blues are ready to inflict more misery on Stafford Rangers on Wednesday night.

Stafford lost 4-2 at home to Blyth Spartans on Saturday and have won just once in 12 league outings. While confident of adding to their woes, Williams admits he'll be forced to take a head count of available players ahead of the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League clash at the Turnbull ground.

The Blues went down 4-0 at title-chasing Hednesford in the Premier Division on Saturday, leaving Williams waiting on the fitness of prolific striker Craig Farrell after an ankle injury. Fellow forward Graeme Armstrong was also sidelined during the weekend defeat at Keys Park and Williams said: "We'll have a body count in the next couple of days. Hopefully Faz [Farrell] will be back for Wednesday. Army went off with a shoulder injury so we'll just have to see what numbers we've got."

Last season, Whitby drew 3-3 at Rangers' Marston Road ground and won 2-1 at home in April with goals from Jeff Smith and Jamie Clarke. After Wednesday's clash the sides meet again on the final day of the season, now Saturday 4 May, in the reverse league fixture.

* The Blues have launched an end of season replica shirt sale, slashing prices to £20 for supporters buying in person at any of their three remaining home matches. Online orders are £24 to include postage and packing. For details visit: whitby-town.com.
