Winger set for Welsh exit

Nantwich Town are preparing for winger Lewis Short to leave the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League Dabbers.

The Premier Division outfit revealed on Saturday that they've reluctantly agreed to allow Short to discuss personal terms and undergo a medical next week at Air Bus UK after an approach by the Welsh Premier League outfit ahead of the weekend.

Following unsuccessful talks with the player to persuade him to stay at the Weaver Stadium, Nantwich expect him to be an Air Bus UK player by early next week.

A Dabbers spokesman said: "Lewis has asked us to pass on his thanks to all of the staff and supporters of Nantwich Town, as he has really enjoyed his time here and was reluctant to leave.

"But with the realistic prospect of playing in Europe next season it was an opportunity he had to take to realise his ambition of progressing further in the game."

The Dabbers hope to return to action on Tuesday following the postponment of Saturday's home game against Ilkeston when they host League One high-flyers Tranmere Rovers in an eagerly-awaited Cheshire Senior Cup tie. KO 7.45pm
