Wire host community kids

Warrington Town

Warrington Town opened up their newly named Abacus Solicitors Community Stadium for a special family fun day ahead of the new Evo-Stik NPL campaign.

Supported by local Community Police Support Officers Tony Spruce and Tom Reid, who help co-ordinate the weekly VPX community events in nearby Victoria Park, youngsters got a chance to show off their footballing skills and take speed tests of their penalty kicks. Wire Chairman Gary Skentelbery and Community Development Officer James Standing recorded the fastest kick of the day at 49 mph.

Club mascot Ollie the Owl and his friends from Warrington Disability Partnership were also on hand to run a popular tombola at the event. The police are hosting community events for kids in the park every Tuesday throughout August and they also brought along their community police vehicle and finger printing kits to entertain the young Warrington fans.

The club's Community Development Officer James Standing, pictured with the club's juniors and mascot Ollie, said: "I would like to thank Tony and Tom for all their hard work in helping organise this event."
