Wise up, demands Rangers boss

Stafford Rangers boss Greg Clowes is demanding that his team use their heads and stop playing into the hands of opponents on Saturday as they go in search of their first home win of their Evo-Stik NPL Premier Division campaign.

Clowes’ stuttering side have taken just a single point from six so far and are at home to bottom of the table Stocksbridge Park Steels. The Steelmen suffered a 5-0 defeat at Blyth on Tuesday after a 5-4 reverse at home to Chorley last Friday night in the league’s first fixture.

Rangers lost 1-0 to Grantham in midweek at Marston Road and their unhappy boss, whose team also face rivals Hednesford on Bank Holiday Monday, told the ThisisStaffordshire website: "We have to be cleverer than we were against Grantham when we were just lumping balls up to their centre-halves and didn't get any passing together throughout the game.

"Hednesford have had a great start, and games against them are always difficult, while Stocksbridge, like us, will be looking for their first win."

Clowes, pictured alongside Rangers Chairman Rob Woodward launching their new kit, will be able to call upon the services of one of last season's star players Karl Espley tomorrow. New signing Liam Walshe is also in the squad for Saturday’s Stocksbridge clash.
