Woodhouse is back in the game

By David Watters

Former Sheffield FC and Goole boss Curtis Woodhouse got off to a winning start at Bridlington on Saturday after leaving the EVO-STIK Northern Premier League at the end of last year to pursue his boxing career.

The former Birmingham City, Sheffield United and Grimsby midfielder guided his new charges to a 7-1 win over Armthorpe at Queensgate in the Northern Counties East League's Premier Division.

The light-welterweight boxer and former British light-welterweight champion, 36, took charge at the former EVO-STIK NPL club last week following the resignation of Gary Allanson in the wake of a poor start to the new season.
