Evo-Stik Northern Premier League Stafford Rangers are looking to appoint a new chairman following the departure of Rob Woodward.

Woodward, pictured, took over at Marston Road in 2012 after serving for five years as a director. The former professional boxer’s resignation was announced at the Premier Division club’s AGM on Thursday night. Woodward, who is hoping to spend more time with his family, was unable to attend the meeting.

In a statement read to fans by his nephew Neil Kelly on his behalf, he said: "Please accept this statement as my intention to resign from my position as Chairman and also as a director of Stafford Rangers Football Club.

"I have decided, after seven years at the club, to commit more time to being with my family and would like to take this opportunity to thank all existing and former directors for their continuous support and dedication to me and the club.

"I would also like to thank all staff, shareholders, stakeholders and volunteers for their hard work and desire to make the club successful. Finally, I would like to thank the life blood of the club, the fans, for their continued support to the team and the board as it has always been exemplary.

"I have been honoured to act as a custodian of the club and wish all involved every success for the future. Any monies or invoices owed to myself or any business associated with myself will not need to be settled in full until 12 month’s time."
