Striker's century brings ton up for Rams

Ramsbottom United striker Lee Gaskell is looking forward to firing his side into the play-offs after scoring his 100th goal for the promotion hunting Evo-Stik Northern Premier League club.

Gaskell, pictured, notched up a superb hat-trick in the 5-3 win over Prescot Cables in First Division North on Tuesday night, passing the personal milestone with the first of his strikes before Jordan Hulme helped the club celebrate its own landmark when he notched up the fifth goal of the game and the 100th Rams strike of the campaign.

In his four seasons at the Harry Williams Riverside Stadium 29-year-old Gaskell has consistently found the net for the Rams. A popular figure with the fans, the forward’s goals have helped him join only a handful of players to have ever achieved the feat at the Harry Williams Riverside Stadium.

Ahead of Saturday’s 1-1 draw at Burscough, Rams joint-manager Bernard Morley paid tribute to the hot-shot.

"In just three-and-a-half years Lee’s now scored more than 100 goals for the club, which is fantastic," said Morley. "It was his second hat-trick in as many games, so he’s in great form at the moment."
