Zebras beat rivals to striker's signature

Brigg Town

The Zebras have clinched the signing of striker Paul Grimes from Evo-Stik NPL Premier Division Grantham Town.

Grimes, pictured signing for Brigg flanked by manager Mick Gray, right, and assistant manager Paul Fenwick, was the Gingerbreads leading scorer this season so far with six goals. Brigg say he's rejoined them for a second spell after being impressed with their recent form and ambitious plans for the future.

Zebras manager Mick Gray, who beat off competition from several clubs to sign his man was delighted to see Grimes decide to return to the Hawthorns. Gray believes the striker will help form an exciting strike force alongside Bruno Holden, Ryan Paczkowski and Adam Lee, with the foursome ably assisted by wingers Liam Davis and Danny Buttle.

Gray is set to give his new frontman, who scored twice in a 6-1 friendly win against Selby Town on Tuesday, his competitive debut in Saturday's Evo-Stik NPL First Division South match away at Newcastle Town.
