Wakefield's fans and players can look forward to a new 3G pitch at Belle Vue following the club's takeover by Wakefield Football Development Limited.

WFDL completed their deal with the First Division North's Bears on Wednesday and aim to develop and build a successful football development centre for Wakefield and the surrounding areas.

The centre piece of the development, which will also include a state-of-the-art gym, classrooms and other facilities, will be the 3G facility.

WFDL have appointed Simon Tuffrey as Wakefield's new Chairman and say their first priority is to start finding the finance over the coming months for the club's new base.

Tuffrey said: "Wakefield is a great club and with the right planning going forward we can become a successful side allowing local talented players the opportunity to play at a highly competitive level of football."

As part of WFDL's ambitious plans to advance talented young players and strengthen community links, the club are opening a new soccer school for juniors and have also appointed Chris Wright in a new role as Head of Youth Development following his switch from Garforth Town.

Wright said: "Having being involved in the Northern Premier League last season I was keen to remain involved with football at this level. Looking at the plans moving forwards and having sat down with the board at Wakefield, it was easy to see the potential here and was an offer I could not refuse."
