Ammies scoop top TV slot!

By David Watters

Salford City will be flying the flag for the EVO-STIK Northern Premier League in the FA Cup live on the BBC.

Like Warrington Town's cup heroes last season, the Ammies have scooped the Friday night terrestrial TV slot after being chosen to kick off the weekend's First Round action against Notts County.

The Ammies, drawn at home to the League Two outfit in Monday night's televised draw after James Poole's late wonder strike dispatched Southport in last weekend's 1-0 win at Moor Lane, will bank a £67,500 television fee from the November 6 fixture.

The Football Association confirmed Salford's TV date at 11am on Wednesday after the BBC and satellite broadcaster BT Sport announced their televised games.

Southern League Didcot Town will play Exeter City on BT Sport at 12pm on Sunday with last season's EVO-STIK NPL champions FC United Of Manchester rounding off the weekend's cup action when BT Sport broadcast their tie with Chesterfield from 7.45pm on Monday 8 November.

The Ammies are getting used to being in the BBC's spotlight with the club already looking forward to the start of 'Class Of 92: Out Of Their League' on the BBC on Thursday night, the documentary on their takeover last year by the Manchester United stars.

After collecting £12,000 in prize money for their win in the last round, the Ammies, like the EVO-STIK NPL's three other clubs in the FA Cup's First Round - Northwich Victoria, Barwell and Stourbridge - will bank another £18,000 in prize money if they can pull off a giant-killing.
