Gray returns as new number two

Former fans' favourite Chris Gray is back at Gresley after joining new manager Scott Goodwin's touchline team at the EVO-STIK Northern Premier League's Moatmen.

The 38-year-old attacking midfielder returned to the First Division South club on Tuesday to work alongside former Coventry star Goodwin who succeeded Wayne Thornhill two weeks ago.

Gray, who arrived from Midland League side Quorn, made over 140 appearances for Gresley Rovers in two spells between 2001 and 2006 to become a firm favourite with supporters.

The former Bardon Hill, Coalville Town, Shepshed Dynamo, Sutton Coldfield, Hednesford Town and Redditch United player will work with Goodwin's two other assistant managers at the Moat Ground, skipper Jamie Barrett and veteran Non-League striker Gary Ricketts.

As well at Coventry, former midfielder Goodwin played for Hereford, Hednesford, Tamworth, Kettering, Gravesend & Northfleet and Canvey Island. He kicked off his managerial career at Rothwell Corinthians before going on to take charge at Burton Park Wanderers, Irchester United and Long Buckby.
