History

Both Ossett Town and Ossett Albion managed to gain Northern Premier League status and maintain that level of football for a remarkable time period. Battling each year to survive in this league and infrequently even challenging for a promotion spot.

Over the years talk of merging the clubs had been flirted with and even advance talks took place but to no avail did the officials of each club ever reach an amicable solution.

Cue 2018 and a discussion between both clubs took place on January 04 and this time the conversations were in favour of joining forces. Officials from Albion and Town both agreed for stability and progression of football in Ossett a single ‘united’ entity would be the best way forward.

On 01 June 2018 after six months of hard graft and passing The FA ratification process Ossett United Football Club was born.

With a clear vision for stability and progression, the owners, along with Phil Smith the Chief Executive Officer and Steve Hanks, Club Secretary, have worked tirelessly to bring this new entity to life. The project is a constant work in progress and part of the clubs constitution states that this is and always will be a joint effort and an equal partnership where decisions are made for the benefit of the club and no singular individual.

Following a highly successful first season under the Managership of Andy Welsh and Paul Quinn which saw the club finish in 5th position, we look forward to season two under the same team.

Exciting times ahead for football in Ossett and with the combination of the board and the fantastic volunteers the future looks very bright indeed.
