Shoot-out triumph as Daniels win the hard way

Stamford AFC

Stamford AFC won the Lincolnshire Senior Trophy Final the hard way at Sincil Bank on Tuesday night with a penalty shoot-out victory over Evo-Stik Northern Premier League rivals Brigg Town.

Jordan Smith, pictured kissing the trophy after the triumph for the Premier Division's Daniels at Lincoln City’s ground, won 5-4 win on penalties after the Zebras came from behind to draw 3-3 in normal time.

Jamie Coulson opened the scoring for the First Division South's side in the 12th minute but the Zebras were seemingly dead and buried with just four minutes to go when they trailed 3-1 to goals from Ashley Robinson, Jordan Smith and Ryan Robbins.

A fantastic fight-back with two goals in two minutes from Alan Lamb and Elliot Broughton saw the match end all-square before nine of the ten penalties were scored as Stamford’s large and vocal travelling support were put through the ringer until the final seconds by their heroes.
