Duffield calls for goals

Belper manager Peter Duffield will be hoping striker Jon Froggatt can keep finding the net following his return from injury after admitting his side need to be more clinical in front of goal, writes Nigel Oldrini.

The Nailers travel to Leek Town on Saturday after Froggatt notched his sixteenth goal of the season with a brace during Saturday's 3-1 win over Loughborough Dynamo having played barely half the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League First Division South season.

Duffield, pictured, was delighted with the win but insisted it should have been game over by half time and wants to see goals from all areas to keep their promotion dream alive.

He said: "If we had been more clinical in the first half the game would have been over by half time and it was a disappointing goal to give away just before the break that set us back a bit. We looked stronger and more energised after the break and in the end we won the game comfortably thanks to a couple of typical striker’s goals from Jon Froggatt."

Belper came from behind at Christchurch Meadow to draw 1-1 draw with Gresley last Tuesday to stay in play-off contention. With four points from their last six, Duffield wants to see the same levels of effort and determination at Harrison Park at the weekend to keep up their challenge.

Blaming his own team selection for not securing maximum points, he said: "On reflection I think it was a point gained. I had a go at the players at half time and we were better in the second half but I think I was out of order and should have given more credit to a Gresley side that were excellent, particularly in the first half. After the efforts we put in against Stamford a few days earlier I should have thought differently about team selection."

Simon Harrison should be available again for Saturday and Duffield is looking forward to seeing him and former skipper Dan White back in contention after bringing the latter back to the Nailers from Rainworth Miners Welfare.

Duffield added: "I'm very pleased to have Dan back with us again. We had a few things to sort out after he left us earlier in the season but to have a player of Dan's calibre in the squad, particularly at this stage of the season, is a real bonus. Simon should be OK for Saturday and he wanted to play against Loughborough but we thought that he should have another week to recover."
