Cables backing model pro

Move over David Beckham – there’s a new model pro on the block and he's none other than Evo-Stik NPL striker James Thomas.

Known to his teamates at Prescot Cables as ‘Smiler’ for his sunny disposition, tomorrow night [Monday] he’s bidding to win the final of the Flawless 2012 Model Pageant at Liverpool’s Moniques Party Club!

The 24-year-old, pictured in front of the team at training, might be a long way from Beckham’s glamourous LA lifestyle still but Cables say he’s introduced a new sense of style around their Hope Street ground in Knowsley so the whole club is backing him to win.

The construction worker is a favourite with the fans for his skill and set piece goals and equally as popular with his team mates who hope success tomorrow will help the former England Under 18 achieve his modelling goals.

Cables captain Jamie McCulloch said: "The team are one hundred per cent behind Smiler! We think it is great and just hope that if he wins he can keep his feet on the ground and keep scoring the goals."
