Carlton suffer double injury blow

Progression in the Nottinghamshire Senior Cup came at a cost for Carlton Town as they lost two players to serious injury.

The 2-0 win at a previously unbeaten at home Newark Fowserve was marred by the double blow for the Millers.

New signing from Hinckley Joe McLaughlin and Jacob Spence were both taken to hospital by Trevor Wells after nasty first half injuries.

McLaughlin picked up a serious ankle injury while Spence had dislocated his shoulder.

With Henry Rollinson also departing the pitch with a hamstring, manager Wayne Scott was forced in to making all three substitutions in the first half.

Scott’s squad is becoming seriously depleted, having already lost Ben Hutchinson for a number of weeks following concussion at Pickering, after which hospital tests revealed a serious head injury.

Tyler Blake and Oliver Robinson are both suspended for three matches after being sent off against Ossett United, while Oliver Clark is also part way through a suspension.
