Carry on laughing at the Arriva!

Marine fans are set to carry on laughing at the Arriva Stadium this summer and into next season after giving the thumbs up to a new series of monthly comedy nights at the EVO-STIK League club.

Following the success of the first of the new Friday night events in May, the Premier Division's Mariners announced on Monday that three more had been penciled in.

Compered by local comedian and promoter Bob McGill, the next comedy night takes places on Friday 27 June in The Graham Lounge with headline act Roland Gent supported by Danny Davies, Adam Partington and comedienne and author Lindsey Davies.

Marine Chairman Paul Leary said: "We are very pleased that this comedy venture is proving such a success, even after only two events. With another four great acts this Friday we continue to provide really fantastic entertainment value and we are looking forward to another great show in the Graham Lounge at the Arriva Stadium.

"MC Bob continues to be a great source of local comedy talent with a mix of younger and experienced acts. The venue provides a relaxed and comfortable comedy friendly atmosphere and I look forward to a repeat of the success of last month’s show that fully justifies the continuation of our comedy nights through the summer months."

Event organiser McGill added: "This month the Marine Comedy Night welcomes diverse talents. We have the multi-talented Lindsey Davies, both comedienne and author; yes Lindsey has published her first book: Mr Wrong.

"We also have, all the way from Stoke, Danny Davies, no not related, plus our headline act from sunny Manchester, Roland Gent, veteran of Edinburgh Fringe. Roland has some of the funniest and cleverest lines around. Don’t miss this one, we’re bursting with talent."
