Centurion sets sights on a thousand appearances

Left-back Andy White has told Nantwich Town's fans that he wants to notch up a thousand appearances in the EVO-STIK Northern Premeier League clubs colours after becoming a Dabbers centurion.

Last season's 'Player of the Season' at the Weaver Stadium made his 100th appearance for the Premier Division club in in the second round of the Cheshire Senior Cup against Tranmere Rovers and the 22-year-old, pictured, is now aiming to make ten times more.

He said: "I am very proud of it. I didn’t even know that I had played 100 games until Mark Winslade said he had seen it online, that this was going to be my 100th appearance. I was pretty shocked to be honest.

"If I carry on like this I could be making 1,000 appearances for Nantwich. I don’t think anyone has made a thousand appearances for a club, have they? But I'm just happy with 100 at the moment.”

The Chester-born player first arrived in two loan spells for former manager Jimmy Quinn from Crewe Alexandra in 2012 before joining the club on a permanent basis in the summer of 2013 under new manager Danny Johnson after being released by the League One outfit.

Despite the change in manager, White reckons he has thoroughly enjoyed every minute of his time with the Dabbers, this season almost as an ever present name on the team sheet after missing just one of 35 outings through injury.

He said: "When I first joined the club it was good. It was with Jimmy Quinn, who was a good coach. He let me go forward. He gave me a right to go forward, same with Danny Johnson. I have enjoyed both as much really."

White, almost an ever present on the team sheet this season after missing just one of 35 outings through injury, added: "I am happy to have played 100 games. I like to know that the manager has trust in me to play me 100 times. Hopefully I can make many more."
