Grantham Town Supporters Club chairman Tony Fraher is pictured handing a cheque for £100 to Dave 'Benno' Bennington from FOSA, the Friends of Sandon and Ambergate, a charity supporting Sandon School and Ambergate Sports College.
To raise the funds, Dick and Josie Short, Ian De'ath, Dave Howitt and Gingerbreads press man Graham Cowell, along with Fraher and Bennington, all completed the round trip from the South Kesteven Sports Stadium to the Mucky Duck at Woolsthorpe and back on Sunday 27 September, in total, a 13 mile trek to visit the popular pub and beauty spot.
The handover on Saturday before the Gingerbreads beat Hyde United 2-0 in the EVO-STIK NPL's top flight also saw the Premier Division club mark Armistice Day on November 11 by offering free entry to all members of the armed forces.
Both sides were led out by local veterans Roy Church and Peter Wetherall and the standard of the Grantham branch of the Royal British Legion before the Last Post started a minute's silence before kick-off.
Grace Knightall, the honorary Poppy Appeal organiser for the Grantham district, was also on hand with a stall at the fixture to make sure supporters were ready for Remembrance ceremonies in the area on Sunday and again on Wednesday.
