Corner returns to the helm

Nigel Corner is back at Harrogate Railway Athletic as acting chairman and looking forward to driving the EVO-STIK Northern Premier League club forward on and off the field.

Corner, pictured, took over as chairman last season before work and family commitments forced him to stand down in the summer ahead of the club's 80th anniversary season.

After seeing him return to the helm on Tuesday ahead of the club's trip to Scarborough Athletic in First Division North action, officials said he is now getting ready to work with commercial manager Alan Smith again.

Together the pair are aiming to ensure that the club partners with the right sponsors and continues to grow financially.

A Rail spokesman said: "The club is now looking to capitalise on the successful season, both on and off the pitch last year, and build a competitive side for the 2016-17 campaign.

"Harrogate Railway have put in place ambitious plans to improve the services on offer to the community and build strategic relationships with local businesses to ensure there is an environment that is conducive to success and progress in the league.

"The club are continuing the search for a ground sponsor and Corner’s business acumen and enthusiasm for the role will ensure that the club achieves the goals that have been set down by the committee and members."
