FC United of Manchester

FC United of Manchester's soon to be completed journey to a new home after nearly a decade of exile saw the EVO-STIK League club pull off a major publicity coup on the BBC over the weekend.

Ahead of their FA Cup First Round Qualifying tie against Prescot Cables on Sunday, the EVO-STIK League's Community Club of the Year 2014 featured on BBC1’s Saturday Sportsday programme which regularly attracts more than a million viewers.

Millions more around the world saw the report, entitled 'FC United fans make the difference', over the weekend on the BBC's News Channel. An article featuring interviews with team manager Karl Marginson, general manager Andy Walsh and FC United supporters on the big move to their new home at Broadhurst Park, is also on the BBC Sport website.

FCUM were already in the media spotlight at the weekend after backing Stonewall’s Rainbow Laces campaign to kick homophobia out of football by donning coloured laces for the 4-1 cup win. Now in its second year, this year’s campaign was supported by the Football Association, the Premier League and a number of high-profile sponsors.
