Defender swaps South Shields for Shildon

Alfie Marriott has joined Shildon on a one-month youth loan after committing his future to South Shields by signing a first team contract.

A product of the Mariners academy, Marriott made his debut earlier this season at Warrington Town in the FA Trophy.

The young defender was also part of the South Shields U18s team which reached the first round of the FA Youth Cup.

Shildon AFC Manager Chris Hughes said: “We are looking forward to having Alfie with us for the next month.

“He is a talented young player who we have been aware of for the past year, and we are pleased he will join the squad to compete for a place in the team.”.

The Railwaymen currently sit second-bottom in the Pitching In NPL East Division ahead of Saturday’s trip to play-off-chasing Dunston.
