Fifth season for veteran Green

By David Watters

Buxton's longest serving player Jamie Green has signed on for a fifth successive season at the EVO-STIK Northern Premier League's Bucks.

The left-back, pictured, will be back at Silverlands in August to add to his six goals in 170 appearances, two as a substitute, after committing to manager Martin McIntosh's plans for the 2016-017 EVO-STIK NPL Premier Division campaign on Friday.

The left-sided 26-year-old kicked off his career at Rotherham United, making 66 first team appearances before one of his two goals was the last scored by a Millers player at the Championship club's old Millmoor ground.

Injury subsequently disrupted his career but after brief spells with Grimsby Town, Rossington and the then Worksop Parramore, he signed for McIntosh in February 2013, making his debut in a 1-1 draw at Whitby Town and has been a reliable stalwart ever since.

* Buxton's development squad manager Rick Adrio and assistant Craig Mills are looking forward to hosting two open trials at the Chapel Leisure Centre on Saturday 25 June and Saturday 2 July between 1 and 3pm.
