Ex-Rovers director is new chairman

Former Doncaster Rovers director Stuart Highfield is the new chairman of EVO-STIK League Frickley Athletic.

A qualified referee, Highfield was a member of the Doncaster board that took the club from the Conference to the Football League and is still a Rovers representative. Pictured at Westfield Lane with Blues director Ryan McKnight, Highfield was appointed this week ahead of the club's trip to Lincoln United in EVO-STIK League South on Saturday.

Former FC Business editor and Stockport County chief executive McKnight told fans he was looking forward to working with Highfield in a statement hailing his appointment.

McKnight said: "This is a huge achievement for Frickley to have someone of Stuart's experience and nous contributing his expertise to the club. I think it's a clear signal of the continued professionalisation of the football club and we're very excited to welcome him to the board."
