Lincoln United

Lincoln United parted company with manager Terry Fleming by 'mutual consent' on Wednesday.

Chairman Malcolm Cowling paid tribute to Fleming's 'tireless efforts in difficult circumstances' in a statement released on the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League club's website. Assistant manager Darren Dye has taken over as caretaker manager while Director of Football Allen Crombie embarks on the hunt for the First Division South club's next manager.

The Whites Chairman said they are aiming to the successor to Fleming, pictured, installed at Ashby Avenue within weeks of the campaign ending. He said: "Terry Fleming has worked tirelessly for the club since taking over the manager's role during the 2010-11 season in difficult circumstances and within a very tight financial budget.

"Football at any level, however, is results-driven and, unfortunately, we have not seen the consistent results and performances we need to support the club's drive for improvement both on and off the field. Regrettably, therefore, we have taken the very difficult step of parting company with Terry but we thank him for the contribution he has made and wish him well for the future."

Cowling added: "We will now put all our efforts into supporting our caretaker-manager, Darren Dye, and the players in the four remaining games. In the meantime, our director of football Allen Crombie will be looking for a new manager and we hope to have him in place in the early part of the close season so that we can prepare for what we hope will be a better new season ahead."
