Buxton's play-off chances in the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League's Premier Division took a blow on Wednesday night as they were held to a goalless draw at Silverlands by mid-table Ilkeston FC, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.
It was the Robins' fifth game in twelve days, including holding leaders North Ferriby United to a 2-2 draw and also sharing the points with the Bucks just over a week ago in a 1-1 encounter at the New Manor Ground.
The point leaves Buxton five points adrift of fifth-placed Witton Albion, who they have a game in hand, with six matches remaining.
Mathematically, Ashton United could still make the top five, but they only have five games left and trail Witton by eight points. However, they at least kept their season going a bit longer with a 2-0 win over Matlock Town at Hurst Cross.
Thomas Moore gave the home side the breakthrough on the hour-mark and then with 20 minutes to go Alex Frost scored his first goal for the club since 2010 to seal victory for the hosts.
