Lincoln United's manager Dave Frecklington believes his squad can make good progress in the new Evo-Stik Northern Premier League campaign, starting on Saturday with their opening game at home to Halesowen Town, writes Peter Hayward.
The Whites completed their 11-match pre-season build up to the First Division South season last Saturday when they went down 1-0 to the Premier Division's Buxton. Frecklington's side had previously won six and lost four of their previous outings, mainly to higher league opposition, to boost their manager's hopes.
United have looked a solid unit at the back with Gavin Saxby in goal, strong in midfield with Andy Toyne pulling the strings and with Andy Hutchinson looking sharp in pre-season, dangerous in attack.
But United's manager insists his squad's real strength is teamwork and spirit and said: "There is a desire and pride in wearing the shirt. Each player has the right, positive attitude. We can’t wait for the new season to start."
