Gingerbreads appoint Yellows duo

Grantham Town

Grantham Town replaced departed joint managers Jimmy Albans and Wayne Hallcro with another managerial duo of Gary Sucharewycz and Ian Robinson on Wednesday after the pair resigned from Hucknall Town a month after taking their first managerial post.

Sucharewycz and Robinson tendered their resignations at the Evo-Stik NPL First Division South Yellows within hours of Hucknall Chairman Derek Blow announcing he was stepping down at Watnall Road.

Hucknall have appointed former Yellows physio Jason Truscott and Alex Weston as caretaker managers ahead of their home game against Newcastle Town on Saturday.

After a tough start, Sucharewycz and Robinson had just led the Yellows to back-to-back wins, beating high-flying King’s Lynn Town 4-2 at The Walks on Saturday, seven days after defeating Market Drayton Town at home by the same scoreline.

Both made themselves fans favourites during their time with Grantham. Robinson’s playing career saw him make 85 appearances, scoring seven goals while Sucharewycz turned out 61 times and scored five. The pair are joined by a third former Gingerbread, player coach Alistair Asher who has 98 appearances in a Grantham shirt to his name with two goals.

The Gingerbreads trio take training on Thursday in preparation for FC United of Manchester’s visit to the Meres on Saturday.
